  • Since incorporation in 1991, Fresh Start has provided over $34 Million worth of free medical services.
  • Fresh Start's Foundation, launched in 2005, allows 100% of contributions to go directly to Fresh Start's medical programs.
  • In total, over 7,500 children have received fresh starts.
  • On average, 400 patients receive Fresh Start's medical services each year.
  • Fresh Start's patients come from across the U.S. and the globe, but all surgeries and medical services are provided at theFresh Start Clinic and other medical providers in the San Diego area.
  • Over 300 volunteers help Fresh Start run its medical programs each year, including more than 200 medical volunteers and 100 non-medical volunteers.

Meet one of the Fresh Start Patients you will help

 

One of Fresh Start's most adored patients, Ema, was born in Romania with Aperts Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes malformation of the head, hands and feet. Because Romania does not have the level of medical services we have here in the United States, Ema's future looked dismal. Only one year later, one of Fresh Start's biggest supporters, Janelle, found Ema while on a mission. Janelle instantly fell in love with her and brought her home to help give Ema the life she deserves with the help of Fresh Start. To date, Fresh Start has provided Ema with $300,000 in donated medical services. Not only is Fresh Start transforming Ema's physical appearance, we are also giving her the self-esteem and confidence to go after her dreams. Ema has touched many hearts throughout her journey, and her warm personality and smile continues to inspire all of us.
